한국인은 머리카락을 소중하게 여기는 민족이었습니다. 아침에 일어나면 제일 먼저 빗질을 하면서 몸과 마음을 단정히 했습니다. 머리카락의 양과 윤기로 그 사람의 건강과 삶의 질을 알기도 했습니다. 모발을 건강하게 관리하기 위해 11종류의 빗을 사용했고 더불어 두피와 모발을 건강하고 윤기 있게 하기 위해서 4~5종류의 기름을 두피와 모발에 발랐습니다. 또한 다양한 식물의 꽃과 잎, 약초들을 끓인 물로 모발을 감고 두피에 바르기도 했습니다. 그리고 1,000년 전에도 "수모"라고 불리는 전문 모발 관리사가 있었고 이들은 다양한 방법으로 사람들의 모발을 건강하고 윤기 있게 해주었습니다.

Koreans have long cherished their hair. Upon waking up in the morning, they would first comb their hair, symbolizing tidiness of both body and mind. The quantity and luster of one's hair were often indicators of their health and quality of life. To maintain healthy hair, they used 11 types of combs and applied 4-5 types of oils to their scalp and hair for nourishment and shine. Additionally, they would boil various flowers, leaves, and herbs to make a solution to apply to their hair and scalp. Even 1,000 years ago, there were specialized hair care professionals known as "SUMO," who used various methods to keep people's hair healthy and glossy.
